Day One in Latvia

Had we arrived just one day earlier, we could have attended the grand unveiling of a newly restored Alberta iela No. 13 -- now home to Riga's Graduate School of Law as well as upscale office spaces. Last summer, we had watched the workers scurrying along the catwalks, diligently turning the clock back to the heydays of Jungenstil architecture. We had received an E-mail informing us of the event... the President and Sweden's crown princess would both be attending, but our plans were already set.

Peters did run out to take "a few" pictures -- here are some of his favorites of the revitalized No. 13.

Except for the perturbed bank guard who thought Peters' wide angle lens was taking in bank property (as he strolled about taking yet a "few more" pictures), it was an uneventful outing, followed by a quiet night at home.
