These quick reference fold-costume reference fold-outs were published shortly before 1960 — we've seen the Abrene foldout advertised for sale dated as 1957, while copies at the Latvian National Library are dated 1958. Featuring descriptive texts provided in French, English, Russian, and Latvian, these were clearly targeted both to locals and as souvenirs for foreign visitors.

The illustrations are very similar to the ones which appear in our copy of the later Concise Encyclopedia of the Latvian SSR (1970). Both are reminiscent of Latvju raksti—Ornement Letton, offered as a subscription series by the Latvian State Printing House from 1924 to 1931 and also published in three volumes.

We have assembled our physical collection from multiple sources. Each foldout features a short introduction, full facsimile, and transcribed descriptive text.
